Alexander, I've been going through some science packages looking for easy to fix bugs.
Looking at your bug #454555, I've a couple of comments. Policy is to build packages linked with X libraries (see below) - but is isn't clear to me why it is maxima that depends on the various X libraries and not xmaxima. Perhaps you could take the time to investigate why this is the case and if it should really be xmaxima that depends on the libraries, perhaps you could provide a patch. Debian policy is as follows (taken from http://release.debian.org/lenny/rc_policy.txt ) (m) X support Packages that can be configured to support X, must be so configured, and must list the appropriate packages in Depends:. Similarly when pacakges can be configured to support gtk, gnome or kde. (Providing different versions of the package without X or gnome/kde support should only be done when there is a particular need) Packages must not install files in to /usr/{bin,include,lib}/X11, however, they should reference the files by these names in preference to the corresponding /usr/X11R6/ directories. AIUI the motivation behind this policy is to avoid the archive bloat of having X and noX versions of everything. Chris -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
