Machine: VIA KT600 + VT8237 (MSI KT6 Delta FISR) Processor: Athlon XP 2800+ Memory: 1GB Root Device: SATA (ST3160023AS) Base System Installation Checklist: Initial boot worked: [O] Configure network HW: [O] Config network: [O] Detect CD: [O] Load installer modules: [O] Detect hard drives: [O] Partition hard drives: [N] hang Create file systems: [N] Mount partitions: [N] Install base system: [N] Install boot loader: [N] Reboot: [N] Comments/Problems: Disabling the SATA drive in BIOS cures the hang, and make device detection much faster; but of course then the SATA drive is unavaible. Another PATA drive (ST380021A) is attached. Problem duplicated on a sister machine.
