Package: dhcp3-client Version: 3.1.1-4 Severity: normal -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: RIPEMD160
I reconfigured a Lenny box with a static IP address and then removed dhcp3-common. Everything worked like a charm, but then about a week later I was surprised when the IP address changed, which caused some problems. I then realized that dhclient was still running even tough I uninstalled it a week before. I think that dhclient should be killed when dhcp3-client is uninstalled, but without releasing the leased IP and without touching the actual routing configuration (to avoid losing the network and in case it would have been manually reconfigured just before uninstalling the package). If there is some reasons for the current behaviour, then at least please explain and document it in the man page and in /usr/share/doc/dhcp3-client/ Thank you, Simon Valiquette http://gulus.USherbrooke.ca -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFI9oDuJPE+P+aMAJIRA4NqAKDwtqtoOva5ouPcbon5SKmty4oYaQCfSgsp l059bnbCTEOciG9N8LfoN9M= =Z+8x -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
