Package: tla
Version: 1.3-1
Severity: normal

According to the documentation, the following command should return an
exit status only:

[587] [snoopy:bam] ~ >tla id --silent ddd
error finding file id (2: No such file or directory)
 path: ddd
 PANIC: arch_inventory_id

Under tla, a file can have an ID even if it doesn't exist (although this
is an error condition...).

I want to make this is is not the case for a particular file from within
a script, so I can create a new file without fear of clashes. However, I
don't want to have to redirect STDERR either, that might hide serious
errors (e.g. can't find tla executable).
