It apparently does not.

I tried to reproduce the problem by putting the offending (') back in but that didn't seem to work. I tried to find the checkin in the timeline, but the data is garbled. The error displayed on the screen when the insert failed showed the SQL query with an unescaped (') character in the string.

The comment was:

Debugging + signal debugging. Watchdog cleanup & expansion. Log hardware
revision and serial number at startup. Don't log missing defaults forever.

Note that the comment is on two lines seperated by a newline. Further, it applied to three files, one of which is a binary (cvs type -kb). When looking at this checkin on the timeline, it shows that it applies to the correct three files, but the comment is displayed as:

->and serial number at startup. Do not log missing defaults forever.

I changed the "Don't" to "Do not" manually, but the "->" is something cvstrac did for me.

I've since done two commits with the word don't in the comment and it's been ok. I also did a commit of two files with the same comment with an apostrophy on the second line and that went ok. As I recall, the last comment I changed was in the binary file, so this may be the key to making it fail. Unless you're able to reproduce this with the info above, I'll try again when I'm ready to commit a new version of the binary file.
