I've been wondering since I opened this report whether other systems with 8600M GT were also affected by this problem. So when I saw a user on #debian yesterday mention he had a 8600M GT, I jumped on the occasion to ask him to try reproducing this issue. I had to go before he got the results, so I couldn't ask him to send his results himself and I don't know his name, but here's what he wrote while I was AFK:
