I had a closer look and indeed xournal depends on poppler-utils, which is also provided by xpdf-utils [1]. xpdf-utils doesn't contain pdftoppm and it also doesn't in Etch. Since xournal seems to be new in Lenny I still believe this is a bug in xournal. If you think the bug is with another package could you please reassign the bug to the proper package?
