Package: pal Version: 0.4.3-1 Severity: normal Hi!
When using the pal -m feature, it shows me broken encoded strings: * 2008-12-08 Austria: MariM-CM-$ EmpfM-CM-$ngnis The same entry in pal -r 100: * 2008-12-08 Austria: Mariä Empfängnis The entry is from (my local) austria.pal which is utf8 encoded, so it's not related to Bug #499389. Btw., there is even a problem in the header of pal -m, so no need to dig around with any special crafted pal file: pal 0.4.3 - 'h' fM-CM-<r Hilfe, 'q' zum Beenden. That should read "für Hilfe" instead of "fM-CM-<r Hilfe". No single 8bit character is displayed here. Calling pal -m with LC_ALL=C corrects this problem, though it doesn't give translated help. Thanks for taking a look. :) Rhonda -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-powerpc Locale: LANG=de_AT.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_AT.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages pal depends on: ii libc6 2.7-13 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libglib2.0-0 2.16.5-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libncurses5 5.6+20080830-1 shared libraries for terminal hand ii libreadline5 5.2-3 GNU readline and history libraries pal recommends no packages.
