How do you hibernate your PC?  Can you try to have more debug
information, e.g. manually launching the hibernation on a terminal?

I'm a bit confused here: the bug title contains the word GNOME, which
means that you cannot have *only* Emacs and an xterm ;-)

Have you tried with a minimalistic WM, e.g. StumpWM [1] (already in
Debian)?  If the bug is really in SBCL or in the hibernation process, it
should be still there.
