Hi Ian, I upgraded to the 3.2 hypervisor from Backports.org, and that indeed works perfectly. You can close this bug.
Special thanks (to the team) for the suspend and the D-I support! I seem to recall that I read somewhere a description of Xen support in Lenny. It stated the lack of dom0 support, and suggested to stay with Etch in the dom0s.
