Hi, thank you for reporting this. Right now, the auto-handshake can only be disabled in the source code of the plug in. What you can do is auto-open a query window to the nickserv daemon and do /otr finish before you authenticate. I do that manually right now. I would however consider uploading another build without auto-announce at all.
In that case you would have to initiate the OTR handshake with ?OTR? manually every time you want to start a conversation. We are already discussing the implementation of explicit white-listing for OTR. Feel free to join us on #bitlbee on the OFTC IRC network. Best, David
