/usr/share/m17n/default.fst and /usr/share/m17n/truetype.fst don't have entries for Bitstream Vera, and DejaVu families of fonts. <URL: http://www.gnome.org/fonts/> <URL: http://dejavu.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page> (Bitstream Vera is the standard GNOME font and probably highest quality free font available for English, and DejaVu is a project extending Bitstream Vera for greater unicode coverage, especially of the characters needed for eastern European languages. There is a debian package for Bitstream Vera in main, and the DejaVu webiste has a download for a .deb package.)
