Hello, I'm trying to do essentially the same - I have clients using subversion, trac, and other dev tools auth against an htpasswd database. I'm moving their system and other accounts to LDAP + KRB5, but I don't want to force a switch on them for subversion overnight, as it may take a while to get everyone's accounts set up.
All I want is to fallback against Basic on any failure, but it seems as if the AuthType nearest the Require valid-user is the only one working. My userids are clear with no email / realm style @domain.com, but I wonder if perhaps this is undefined behaviour in Apache where a userid exists in both databases or somesuch.. I'd love to help fix this if someone could extend a bit of guidance, and try to help fix the originally reported problem, too. Best and TIA!
