I'm not really happy with the idea of making fai-quickstart (or rather, any of the FAI packages) architecture-specific/restricted. Probably Sebastian could comment best what needs to be done to make it work; I know that we had FAI working with Sun/SPARC systems, but that required running rarpd. In all cases it seems that the dependencies are architecture specific, but it's not the package that is architecture specific! You can well use an i386 host to install those sparc machines, once you get the NFSROOT.
I'd see two more options here: - Add fai-quickstart-i386, fai-quickstart-powerpc, ... packages, just for the sake of handling dependencies. Note that all of these would be Architecture: all and wouldn't conflict. - Don't depend on any of the architecture-specific stuff, but instead ask the user to install it when running fai-setup (with the option of having fai-setup do this automatically). Best, Michael
