While it is supposed to work, and did prior to .25, non-RAID devices
(in my case on the second channel) on this controller is the affected
use case.  This is probably because of a change in the driver that
fails to address a bug in certain newer firmware, or a previous patch
for a bug in another card by the same vendor.  Moving the devices to a
different controller entirely is a workaround, if you have the
hardware/slots to do it.
