It's rarely a good idea to tie a bug fix to another change that will happen at some unspecefied future time, especially when the bug fix is quite simple and unobtrusive.
I noticed this bug while testing the default lenny desktop, which includes hardinfo. In contrast to the polish of (most of) the rest of the desktop, it was quite jarring. -- see shy jo
