If you want a public/sytem ID in your HTML output, you have to set it yourself. The docbook-xsl stylesheets do not set these values by default but offer the following parameters to set/adjust these values: http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl/current/doc/html/chunker.output.doctype-public.html http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl/current/doc/html/chunker.output.doctype-system.html Set these parameters accordingly in your customization layer. AFAIK docbook-xsl produces valid (X)HTML. Please clone and/or reassign this bug back to docbook-xsl if it does not for you.
