Here is a bug that I first reported on GNOME: I have a Sony VGC-LT71DB - a kind of iMac clone that looks like the offspring of a television and an aquarium - and xrandr thinks that I have two screens plugged. As a result, window managers such as GNOME and XFCE use a mixture of two screen sizes, which results in having some service bars annoyingly far from the edges of the physical screen.
