Package: grub-pc Version: 1.96+20080724-9 Severity: important Hi on a clean install of debian sid, using daily image from 27/08/08 i think the installation of grub2 detected a windows partition in sda2 correcly but specified hd0,1 in the boot command rather than hd0,2 wich is the correct one I edited moved and edited otheros to /etc/grub.d/07_otheros to fix this.
Thanks PS: should a clean install have chainload from menu.lst=true? -- Package-specific info: *********************** BEGIN /proc/mounts /dev/disk/by-uuid/a74d9b54-1572-4734-aa59-d9713f177614 / ext3 rw,errors=remount-ro,data=ordered 0 0 /dev/sda6 /boot ext2 rw,errors=continue 0 0 /dev/sda7 /home ext3 rw,errors=continue,data=ordered 0 0 /dev/sda2 /mnt/win fuseblk rw,user_id=0,group_id=0,allow_other,blksize=4096 0 0 *********************** END /proc/mounts *********************** BEGIN /boot/grub/device.map (hd0) /dev/sda *********************** END /boot/grub/device.map *********************** BEGIN /boot/grub/grub.cfg # # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE # # It is automatically generated by /usr/sbin/update-grub using templates # from /etc/grub.d and settings from /etc/default/grub # ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/00_header ### set default=0 set timeout=1 set root=(hd0,8) search --fs-uuid --set a74d9b54-1572-4734-aa59-d9713f177614 if font /usr/share/grub/ascii.pff ; then set gfxmode=640x480 insmod gfxterm insmod vbe terminal gfxterm fi ### END /etc/grub.d/00_header ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme ### set root=(hd0,8) search --fs-uuid --set a74d9b54-1572-4734-aa59-d9713f177614 insmod png if background_image /usr/share/images/desktop-base/debian-blueish-wallpaper-640x480.png ; then set color_normal=black/black set color_highlight=magenta/black else set menu_color_normal=cyan/blue set menu_color_highlight=white/blue fi ### END /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/07_otheros ### # This entry automatically added by the Debian installer for a non-linux OS # on /dev/sda2 menuentry "Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" { set root=(hd0,2) chainloader +1 } ### END /etc/grub.d/07_otheros ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/10_hurd ### ### END /etc/grub.d/10_hurd ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/10_linux ### set root=(hd0,6) search --fs-uuid --set 1eb5fefe-fdc3-4576-be79-c7748e09cae1 menuentry "Debian GNU/Linux, linux 2.6.26-1-amd64" { linux /vmlinuz-2.6.26-1-amd64 root=UUID=a74d9b54-1572-4734-aa59-d9713f177614 ro quiet vga=788 initrd /initrd.img-2.6.26-1-amd64 } menuentry "Debian GNU/Linux, linux 2.6.26-1-amd64 (single-user mode)" { linux /vmlinuz-2.6.26-1-amd64 root=UUID=a74d9b54-1572-4734-aa59-d9713f177614 ro single quiet vga=788 initrd /initrd.img-2.6.26-1-amd64 } ### END /etc/grub.d/10_linux ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/20_memtest86+ ### menuentry "Memory test (memtest86+)" { linux /memtest86+.bin } ### END /etc/grub.d/20_memtest86+ ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ### ### END /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/40_custom ### # This file is an example on how to add custom entries ### END /etc/grub.d/40_custom ### *********************** END /boot/grub/grub.cfg -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (800, 'unstable'), (700, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=es_CR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=es_CR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages grub-pc depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.23 Debian configuration management sy ii grub-common 1.96+20080724-9 GRand Unified Bootloader, version ii libc6 2.7-13 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii liblzo2-2 2.03-1 data compression library ii libncurses5 5.6+20080823-1 shared libraries for terminal hand grub-pc recommends no packages.
