Salut Jean-Marc :)

The README.Debian and README.direct in the docdir should have helped you
if all the information had been there :).

There are 2 things to change: "automount nis" in nsswitch.conf, and
DISABLE_DIRECT=0 in /etc/default/autofs.

Note that README.Debian says DISABLED_DIRECTMAPS=0, which is an error.

The "incomplete support" for direct maps mentionned in README.debian seems
to refer to not being able to automount /foo/bar if /foo already contains
something: attempting to mount /etc/whatever wreaks havoc on the machine,
and attempting to automount /whatever is (luckily) purely ignored with a
cryptic message in the logs. Maybe there are other limitations, but at
least this one should IMHO be mentionned, so people do not waste time
figuring it out.
