This seems to be related to
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=491908 and
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=341481

If I change the original, untranformed font size (line 343 in sm.c) to
something “normal” such as 20, the accents are right when the letter is
rendered at a “normal” size by sm. The larger it gets, the more the
accent moves to the right.

If I start with a large font size, the accent is too far to the left.
But this makes the bug appear less often for english text, it seems –
that’s why it’s there. Theoretically, it should not matter anyways, as
it’s scaled by the matrix.

Strange that gedit works fine even with large letters, up to DejaVu Sans
Mono 550. With font size 600, I don’t see the accent any more (but not
sure if it’s shifted or just not displayed).

So please post to the bugzilla bug mentioned up there with your
examples. Having more people post there might increase the urgency for
the maintainers :-)

Greetings,
Joachim
