extract-cache-subset
Extract a subset of the package cache to the specified directory. If
no packages are listed, the entire
package cache is copied;
This sounds like you are talking about /var/cache/apt/archives/.
Please reword somehow, mentioning what directories are copied for clarity.
Also there is no need for the command to create empty files, e.g.,
$ aptitude extract-cache-subset ii tk5
$ find ii -empty|wc
18 18 1471
or copy backup files that don't get read, like
/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/10jidanni.~1~
