I'm not getting a lockup with this version, but I don't have a usable display either. It's insisting on picking a display resolution which is incompatible with the display (a 1080p LCD TV). The TV will just display "Unsupported Video Format" when X starts. I was sometimes getting this with the old version, too. (Sorry, I haven't kept precise notes about what settings lead to which behaviors.) My old nvidia card had no trouble driving this display at 1920x1080 progressive. Also, with the other X packages from experimental which are required to install this one, I sometimes lose keyboard support. (but LIRC input still works...)
