thanks for this additional info.

Anyways, it doesn't change the request for removal for me, as I have
already thought about this before this bug was opened. I don't develop
fireflier any more and nobody has showed any interest in taking up its
development for a long time now. 

very few users and no time to work on it led me to the conclusion, that
it will be better to have this package removed. Outdated unmaintained
packages won't help debian.
