I can confirm this bug using a fresh-upgraded debian sarge.
Package: mozilla-thunderbird
Version: 1.0.2-2
After installing mozilla thunderbird via
~# aptitude install mozilla-thunderbird
I start mozilla thunderbird and choose "Import Preferences, Account
settings, Addressbook and other data from
[X] Netscape 6, 7 or Mozilla 1.x"
Upon clicking "Next" thunderbird crashes:
~$ mozilla-thunderbird

The preferences I tried to import were created by a locally installed
Mozilla 1.7.7 which comes directly from mozilla.org.
