Well, the thing is that upstream now uses libpango for drawing the graphs and which pulls in all of those dependencies. The only thing I could think of that could be done against that is to split the library in two parts - one which implements the graphing stuff and one which includes everything else. Only the former would depend on libpango. Anyway, I doubt that this would be really useful as, I suppose, people usually want to draw graphs on the same system that writes the rrd files. I don't really see the _problem_ anyway. This should only cause problems on systems with very limited disk-space. I doubt that anyone would be using rrdtool there though.
