Package: console-data Severity: wishlist
(let's submit this as a bug against the relevant package. To Praveen: it's normal that you could not spot the right package as this is not very obvious) Quoting Praveen A ([EMAIL PROTECTED]): > Hi, > > Can "American English" be selected as default keyboard layout when > Malayalam is selected as installation language? May be an option > somewhere for each language to specify default layout would be great. Right. Indeed, we should have a way, in console-data, for American English to be the default *when no other default is set*. We have a mechanism to set the default on a per-language basis (see udeb/console-keymaps-at) but when a language is not specified there, the first language in the list (which indeed depends on the language's sort order) is chosen. We could of course add Malayalam there:* en:en_CA:en_US:en_AU:zh:eo:ko:us:nl:nl_NL:ar:fa:hi:id:mg:sq:tl:vi:xh us American That would be enough but not very scalable. I'm however unsure whether just setting a default to "us" in debian/console-keymaps-*.templates would be enough....or if it is likely to break setting the default to something else for other languages. To be tested in detail by the console-data maintainer.....:-)
