reassign 469078 libpam-gnome-keyring retitle 469078 libpam-gnome-keyring: please implement https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PAMConfigFrameworkSpec subscribe 469078 thanks
This bug was filed suggesting that the stock PAM config enable pam_gnome_keyring by default. This is not appropriate, because the module is not /installed/ by default, and even though optional modules will not cause the stack to fail when they're absent, they do cause errors to be logged to /var/log/auth complaining about the bad config. So the pam package will not implement this request, no. But the good news is that I'm currently in the process of testing a new PAM configuration framework in Ubuntu Intrepid, which will be made available in Debian for lenny+1 (not for lenny unfortunately, since this came together too late to make it for the freeze and it's too intrusive to warrant a freeze exception). This framework makes it possible for packages providing modules to register profiles declaring themselves to the system, including auto-enabling if appropriate. Please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PAMConfigFrameworkSpec for details on implementation; I intend this to be uploaded to sid with pam 1.0.1-4, which will probably be after the lenny release.
