the same error occured with one of my AMD64 machines today after my daily Lenny dist-upgrade containing only the following package linked by gdmgreeter:
libxml2_2.6.32.dfsg-2+lenny1_amd64.deb The problem seems to be related to the choosen gdmgreeter theme. The circles theme crashes gdmgreeter, while the default theme does not. Maybe some of the gdm themes in current lenny packages are broken. Regards Jan
