Package: e2fsprogs
Version: 1.41.0-3
Severity: normal

Perhaps I'm just doing this wrong, but it seems it should work:

arrr:/test# e2image /dev/rootvg/tmplv tmplv.img
e2image 1.41.0 (10-Jul-2008)
arrr:/test# debugfs -d /dev/rootvg/tmplv -i tmplv.img
debugfs 1.41.0 (10-Jul-2008)
tmplv.img: Attempt to read block from filesystem resulted in short read while
reading inode bitmap
debugfs: quit
arrr:/test# e2image -r /dev/rootvg/tmplv tmplv.img
e2image 1.41.0 (10-Jul-2008)
arrr:/test# debugfs -d /dev/rootvg/tmplv -i tmplv.img
debugfs 1.41.0 (10-Jul-2008)
tmplv.img: Wrong magic number for Ext2 Image Header while opening filesystem
debugfs: quit

my /tmp is a valid filesystem, so it would seem that debugfs should be able
to see this image as being valid.
