I can add a little information to this bug report. I have just
experienced the same error, as follows:

Processing triggers for gxine ...
/var/lib/dpkg/info/gxine.postinst: line 5: 30901 Segmentation fault
/usr/bin/xine-list-1.1
dpkg: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 139
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)

Gxine is at 0.5.903-2 and was not actually being updated in this
transaction, however libxine1 was being upgraded from 1.1.12-2+b1 ->
1.1.14-1. As you see the segfault arises during gxine trigger processing.

When I re-ran /usr/bin/xine-list-1.1 by hand following the upgrade it
worked fine without crashing so I do think it is related to gxine's
depedent libraries and to the timing of the run, rather than being an
error in gxine itself.

dpkg.log suggests that libxine1 had already been configured prior to
the gxine trigger being run.

By going through the upgrade log, I can see that in fact libfreetype6
was unpacked before the gxine trigger, but was not configured until after
gxine trigger was run. No other library directly linked into gxine was
involved in this particular transaction so it does seem that something
in this area may have bearing on the segfault.

If time allows later I'll see if I can reproduce it by
downgrading/upgrading again.

Nick
