It seems that file can recognize it as a diff output: $ file E169.diff E169.diff: diff output text Wait, file tells a different story, if I ask the MIME type: $ file -i E169.diff E169.diff: text/html charset=us-ascii Should I report this as a bug against the file package, in your opinion?
