Hi, I noticed the bug while installing the latest Gtk2 Perl module in a self-compiled perl (I prefer to avoid messing up with the system perl). I saw that the system perl does not exhibit this problem, but the installation in "my" perl went wrong due to the bug.
I don't know how much this qualifies as "software that breaks" significantly. After some debug, and some search, I saw that the library maintainers had already fixed the bug, and I thought it could be good to propagate this into the debian packages. And avoid headaches to the next one who will take my path :) Personally, I solved re-compiling the package with the patch.
