Ah, I see.

well, I'm still not using svn-buildpackage, and your remarks now do
explain some things.

can we perhaps keep the upload target to 'unstable' instead of
'UNRELEASED'? I see very little point in that. Released revisions are
tagged seperately, and having them in the 'trunk' branch indicates if
the next upload is targeted for 'unstable' or 'experimental'.
