Well, if curl doesn't work, approx won't work, since it uses curl subprocesses for all remote fetching. Can you try the workaround suggested in #490624: downgrade curl and libcurl3 to the versions in testing (7.18.2-5) and let me know if that fixes the problem. Also, are you using IPv6?
