The patch works for me (in the setup with radeon driver as described in http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=480231). In particular, xscreensaver survives through adding and removal of monitors (laptop LCD plus an external LCD monitor), and all the screens are blanked when blanking/locking command is issued. For some reason, actual locking doesn't seem to happen.
