Anyway, and given that I've been packaging beta versions (from upstream's git repo) of terminator for my personal use, I've downloaded and tried to build your package from mentors.d.o, and I'm afraid it FTBFS due to a wrong dependence on python-gconf, which doesn't exists within Debian and should be replaced by python-gnome2.
