I've looked at the patch, and there are too many acronyms!

Where is this CMSFSADT label supposed to be found?  According to some
comments, for "FBA DASD's" it is located at offset 512 bytes.  I know
that DASD is a mainframe-encrypted word for "disk", but what is "FBA"?

And then there are these strang things called "CKD DASD"'s.  What are
CKD DASD's, and how are they different from FBA DASD's?  There the
volume label seems to be located at a variety of different locations,
one of which appears to be at the exact same location as the ext2/3/4
superblock.

Anyway, no, this isn't helpful enough, and I really need someone who
can explain to me **exactly** what is going on in the disk layout, or
I'm not going to be able to do much with this request.
