Some times when my test machine boots, after installing both kdm and usplash, kdm is unable to start X. A quick look in /var/log/kdm.log show this at the end: Fatal server error xf86OpenConsole: VT_WAITACTIVE failed: Interrupt system call Searching on google send me to <URL:http://groups.google.com/group/linux.debian.bugs.dist/browse_thread/thread/69c971bd8db2d8d6> which indicate that this issue also has affected splashy. Any idea how to avoid the problem and make sure kdm is able to start X on every boot?
