That it actually is a problem is obvious from this issue anyway, though. It even was reported for a platform which is built by Sun. Don't trust every bogus comment from upstream people. Please try whether the unopkg workaround you mention in your last comment also works on a system covered by this BTS (Debian sid/Debian testing) - Ubuntu is not and if you reproduce a bug in Debian sid please also try the workaround on Debian sid instead of telling that it works in Ubuntu (they take more or less the identical packages).
