Package: hpijs Version: 2.1.3+0.9.3-1 Severity: wishlist
foomatic-db-hpijs depends on foomatic-filters. And foomatic-filters-pppds is of no use if one use the "foomatic way" instead of the cups "backend drivers". Should i send another bug report for those issues: - make hplip itself depends on foomatic-filters-ppds as it needs it for the cups backend driver it provides. - foomatic-filters-ppds to stop depending on foomatic-db-engine as it provides the "compiled" ppds for cups so there is no need for the tools to generate them which are provided by foomatic-db-engine. The current dependency walks is not easy for users and install both foomatic engine even if we use cups with a cups driver and ppd. Or am i totally lost and the cups hp driver is only for the backend (and we still use foomatic to bypass cups raster process : http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/images/a_small.png ) Could those resolution be synchronized to avoid having a period where nothing suggest to install foomatic-filters-ppds for hplip users ?
