I would like for you to either switch to gnutls by default, or provide a "flavor" of librdf linked against gnutls instead of libssl - similar to libcurl.
Looking further, it seems that your package actually violates the licensing of openssl/libssl: this GPL code it incompatible with the openssl license!
If technically possible, I believe the problem can be solved by linking against gnutls instead of openssl.
