Also the next steps in the process are outlined there. OK, here is is. :) > All new mailing lists need to have these basic prerequisites: > • Basic purpose. > Debian l10n list for the Vietnamese community working on Debian. • Interested audience. Translators and users. If it becomes too busy, we'll split the two. To start with, the list will be very slow, only update requests and other translation monitoring. I am currently the only Vietnamese translator for Debian. But we anticipate a lot of interest in free software in oncoming months, due to the Vietnamese government suddenly deciding we should all use "open source", the increase in localized software available recently, and the upcoming release of a fully-localized OpenOffice.org 3.0. > Once these two prerequisites have been obtained, a proper request > needs to be sent in as a wishlist bug report against > thelists.debian.org pseudo-package. > Done > The following information is required in the bug report: > > Name > Please choose a descriptive, short and unique name. > [EMAIL PROTECTED] It's not short, but it's the pattern required by Deb18n. > Rationale > Full explanation on why do you want this list be created. > As I said, we anticipate a lot of interest in free software in oncoming months, due to the Vietnamese government suddenly deciding we should all use "open source", the increase in localized software available recently, and the upcoming release of a fully-localized OpenOffice.org 3.0. Also, we are setting up a robot system to monitor the status of submitted translations and files needing update: all those emails will go to this list. We have had problems with update emails going to the wrong address, or being bounced from our community mailing lists. So we're trying to address three separate issues here: anticipated increasing participation by our community, the need for a Debian list to manage the translation update system, and a way to ensure all translation-related emails are received and processed. > Short description > This is the one-line description, for display in list indices, so > make it short and straightforward. > Debian Vietnamese localization list: Hộp thư chung Việt hoá Debian > Long description > This description is meant for people who are looking for the proper > list to join, so make sure it's clear and informative. > This is the Debian localization list for Vietnamese localization announcements and translation status checks, discussions between Vietnamese translators and quesions from Vietnamese community users with language-related issues. Đây là hộp thư chung Việt hoá Debian, chứa các thông báo Việt hoá và kiểm tra trạng thái về bản dịch, cho các dịch giả thảo luận và các người dùng hỏi câu về vấn đề Việt hoá. > Category > This is needed to classify the list and to properly sort it on the > subscription page and elsewhere. If that is the case, we can leave this one open. It will certainly be easier for user queries. And if we get spammed, I can blame him. :D > Post Policy open > Web Archive yes At Debian mailing list archives. > After filing the request, it would be very much appreciated if > several other people interested in the new list would send a mail to > the bug, in order to record their interest. It's just me, to start with. There will be more later. I'll publicize the new list on our community lists. I'll be monitoring it myself because of the translation status and update emails.
