  While it was a good guess, I don't think this is an aptitude bug.

  It looks to me like apt is actually returning a truncated string from
pkgRecords::Parser::LongDesc.  This is surprising, since apt can
certainly handle wide characters in descriptions most of the time (e.g.,
in translated descriptions).  I'll see if I can look into this tomorrow.
