Yes, this is reproducible:

1. Start Banshee
2. Make sure the Notification Area Icon extension is enabled.
3. Play something
4. Click on the Notification Area Icon 6 to 8 times.
5. Major slowdown in redrawing of the main window occurs.

alternative for step 4:

4a. hover over the Notification Area Icon 6 to 8 times, causing the
popup with the current song to appear each time.

Removing --debug does not help.

Step 3 is necessary: A song must be playing or paused for this to happen.
