Have a look at my mail(s) to #485443 for some hints on how
to get pm-utils working if acpi-support worked for you.
Basically, you need to enable some "--quirk-*" options.
Moreover, the video suspend/resume script in
/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/99video
does things in an order different from the order in
which the legacy acpi-support script did it.
For all the re-organisation the video restoration
part is still black-magic!
