Yes, I still see the same problem on Debian. A substantial difference I can 
see with my  Ubuntu testing is that there I have a 1024x768 screen, while 
here I have 1280x1024. I guess I need to try with a Mozilla build again, or a 
Ubuntu live-cd...

On the referecned mozilla bug, there was a claim that the problem is in the 
page, because it specifies the main text's div height in pixels. I think 
that's wrong -- changing the font size does change the height at which the 
bottom is presented, but not the fact that it is presented overlapping the 
text.
