Package: developers-reference Severity: wishlist Hi,
Section 5.1 on New Packages currently contains the sentence > If you feel it's necessary, send a copy to > [EMAIL PROTECTED] by putting the address in the > X-Debbugs-CC: header of the message (no, don't use CC:, because that > way the message's subject won't indicate the bug number). I wonder whether it would be preferable to make using that a (strong) recommendation along the lines of Please do send a copy to [EMAIL PROTECTED] by using the X-Debbugs-CC (pseudo- if you prefer) header (no, don't use CC:, because that way the message's subject won't indicate the bug number). If you are packaging so many new packages (>10) that notifying the mailing list in seperate messages is too disruptive, do send a summary after filing the bugs to the debian-devel list instead. Rationale: Packages stemming from ITPs that have not been CCed to the mailing list seem to feature particularly bad long descriptions, such as (random example that prompted me to write this mail now): Package: trash Description: Command line trashcan utility Command line interface trashcan freedesktop.org specs compliant. For each trashed file remember name, original path, date of deletion, and permissions. Designed to interoperate with KDE Trash. The ITP-forwarding seems to be an opportunity where these things can be caught at an early time.
