It does appear to, yes. I have just uploaded a new package to unstable, 6.1.5-10 with your patch applied. Now that I have three patches to upstream to apply each time, I've finally bitten the bullet and started managing them properly (using quilt), so if you look at the source package much, you'll probably notice quite a few changes in this one. I've built and tested the package on both lenny and etch, and it seems to work fine.

Please do test and confirm it works for you...
