/usr/share/doc/nagios3-doc/html/distributed.html includes a shell script called submit_check_result which can serve as a primitive version of the glue code needed between a Nagios plugin and send_nsca. Having this script in a useable form in the package would allow you to distribute updates, fixes and optionally a better version of the script at a later time instead of requiring all people to manually pull the script from the docs.
